February 9, 2022 12:31pm #28157Just a quick question for all of you,
I've been taking a few more pictures with drapery. I was curious whether pictures like these (see Link) are helpful or whether they cover too much of the human form. They look artistically beautiful, but I know this is particularly figure drawing website.
Thanks!

December 30, 2021 12:57pm #27967It would depend, I think, on what Artlatius is trying to learn/achieve. For proportion and dynamism, I think it's very fine work - not contrived. The Renee result is quite different than that of cartoon, I would say.

August 25, 2021 2:20pm #27537Are silhouettes helpful for people learning how to draw?
August 19, 2021 2:32pm #27520Thanks for the good ideas - chiarascuro and story telling. I'll try some more of these when I have the time. I would love to do portrait stuff, but I would like to keep my anonymity at this point, so unfortunately no for portraits.
August 16, 2021 11:56am #27510What are low key shots?

July 15, 2021 1:30am #27368Hello everyone!
I'm pretty new to drawing, and was wondering whether it is better to start timed practice at a shorter time (5 secs, 30 secs), or a longer time (eg. 5 minutes)
July 14, 2021 1:52am #27364Your work is awesome!
April 28, 2021 1:59am #27035Hello everyone,
As I've been offering some of my figure drawing reference pictures to this site, I'd like to get advice from the artist's perspective.
What kind of lighting is the best for figure drawing poses? High contrast? Well-lit? Do silhouette poses have much value?
Thanks,
God bless!
